LA2LA 2005 !

Wow, what a weekend of great fun, excitement, and ministry!!!! I just got home last night from my first LA2LA Mission trip and forgive me if there are a few typos in this, but I am still a little tired, but so energized and excited about the mission and ministry of our youth!!!  We left Thursday night on the train headed to Los Angeles with 61 youth and 14 adults. Now four days later we returned, yes, will all 61 youth and all chaperones as well. But I must say, I think the adults are a little more childlike and the youth definitely are a little more adult after this experience. To see the growth in them over the weekend, and see how they all came together to help each other out and help out those whom we meet on the trip was wonderful.

Mission projects ranged from painting and removing wallpaper at an Episcopal Church in Hacienda Heights, to handing out homeless meals on the streets of downtown LA, and even going out on those same streets and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with other youth, and then inviting some of those kids to a service at a outreach mission center which focuses on the lost kids of the street. What a great experience this was for both adults and the youth. I know my life will not be the same after this and I heard many of the same comments from the youth. From TOTH we had 14 youth attend the trip as well as three youth from St. Stephen’s in the Chili Line. What a great group of kids and just to keep things straight, it was not all hard labor, we also had time to visit sites in LA and enjoy the beach as well, although we would have had a little more sun and a little less rain!!! Thank you to all who helped out in the trip with funding, treats for the train, collecting items to share with the homeless and all the wonderful prayers. It was great and we are already looking forward to next year and how we can include more youth and adults from TOTH.

In Christ’s Service
